The development and utilization of local geography curriculum resources is the embodiment of the new curriculum concept, the need of geography teaching, and more importantly, the practical need of the development of Qingxin County (District). After sorting out the relationship between curriculum, curriculum resources, local geography curriculum resources and high school geography teaching, the research aims to explore suitable development methods of local geography curriculum resources and to further explore the utilization of local geography curriculum resources by combining local resources with obligatory courses of senior geography, with Dewey’s Experience Curriculum Theory and Structuralism Theory as theoretical basis and the analysis of local geography resources features, the interviews of some teachers, students and parents and the joint practice of teachers and students as practical support. The conclusions of the research are as follows. Firstly, from the aspect of development methods, it’s the practical need of local geography curriculum resources to involve both teachers and students with teachers as the main body. Secondly, from the aspect of utilization, it is beneficial to combine local geography curriculum resources with obligatory courses of senior geography. Thirdly, during the development and utilization process, students’attitudes and views towards study have changed and teachers’teaching has improved. At the same time, it is easier to develop students’ability. In the end, the thesis proposes that during the process of the development and utilization of local geography curriculum resources we should focus on its combination with geography teaching, act in according to circumstances and involve students.
