With the continuous development and evolution, to cultivate scientific literacy as the goal of science education is bound to the rise of a new paradigm of science education. Science education has design traits significantly, and thus the design based learning in science education has demonstrated its unique advantages. This study outlines the development of primary school science education, explore the design based learning connotation, characteristics and theoretical basis; focuses on the design based learning science learning model----Doreen Nelson professor "backward thinking", and analyzes its meaning, steps and cases; On this basis, combined with the development of primary school science education,we will use the design based learning in primary school science classroom, inspection on the introduction of DBL teaching methods, and evaluate the students’ classroom performance, and students learning attitude, the level of cooperation, self-satisfaction, participation.This paper includes six parts:The first chapter:introduction, mainly elaborates the research background of the subject, determines the research targets and contents, and the choice of suitable research methods and ideas, know the development through literature research.The second chapter:literature review, through literature retrieval, collection, collation, analysis, induction, summarizes the connotation of scientific education and development of primary school science education. It leads to new science education paradigm---design based learning.The third chapter:theoretical basis of design based science learning, first introduces the meaning of the "design" and "design based learning", sums up the characteristics of design based science learning, traces back to design based learning theoretical basis.The fourth chapter:DBL:design based science learning model, introduces Doreen Nelson professor "backward thinking" and perspectives foreign successful case, have an in-depth understanding of the DBL science learning model.The fifth chapter:the exploration of DBL teaching, DBL teaching model in primary school science curriculum. To be prepared for the research on the teaching: put forward the hypothesis, determine the research object, the set of process, choice of research method, in order to facilitate teaching empirical study. Through the research on data collection, collation, analysis and statistics, show the study results, and prove that DBL is effective in primary school science education.The sixth chapter:conclusion and reflection, gives a brief summary of research results, and the reflection on the research problem.
