As one important component of linking modern maths and elementary mathematics and one of the basic concepts of modern maths, vector is widely used in the subjects like modern maths, engineering, physics and it is given much attention. In the form of geometry and algebra,vector is the bridge linking trigonometry, algebra and geometry. Therefore,it is necessary that vector with wide use and excellent calculation system should be included in maths textbooks for senior high school.As the first experimental provincial area for senior high school new curriculum reform, Guangdong province received the first College Entrance Examination in2007after the reform and has achieved initial success. However, what is the actual circumstance for vector teaching in new curriculum reform? What problems lie in the vector teaching? What difficulty do the students have in learning vector? The author find it a difficulty for teachers and students how to teach vector efficiently.This paper touches upon the background of its introduction to senior maths, convincing us that it meets the requirements of the times.Besides, the article analyzes the causes and difficulties of the students in studying vector and studies the difficulty of teaching vector in theory and practice. Aimed to solve the difficulties and to make some breakthroughs., the article also probes into how to teach vector efficiently and make some breakthroughs in dealing with the difficulty.Owing to the author’ limited knowledge and study scope, to get it better solved, we need to work hard together to perfect the study with continuous exploration.
