Children with special needs is a special group, special children’s mental health than normal children are more susceptible to physiological, psychological, and socio-cultural characteristics. Psychological problems of children with special needs due to its own characteristics and other influences, long been neglected, special children’s mental health is not optimistic. The school of mentally retarded children mainly recruit mentally retarded students, now accept part of the autism, cerebral palsy and other students. Mental health education of mentally retarded students is long-term neglected. Mental health education is serious shortage of theory and practice. In this study, through interviews and field observations on the current situation of the Dalian City mentally retarded mental health education, survey and found that:(1)The leaders’ concept of mental health education generally good;(2)Organization and management of the schools for the mentally retarded are not systematic;(3)The schools for the mentally retarded children lack of mental health education teaching profession;(4)The implementation of the schools for the mentally retarded mental health education better;(5) The schools for the mentally retarded in good cooperation with parents, community.Finally, The study made several suggestions for the mentally retarded about how to carry out mental health education better:(1)Change their ideas, raise their awareness;(2) Strengthen Organization Systemic of the mental health education;(3) Leaders attach importance to strengthening teacher training;(4) Perfect the form and content of mental health education;(5)As the core, the family and society to provide full support to the school.
