A Research On The University Counselors’Professionalization Development Strategies

Abstract:The popularization era of Higher Education in China has come, the national college students has reached more than ten million people, and the expansion of the number of university students is accompanied by a surging wave of social and economic reforms. The interference of external factors make the current college students’ view on the world, the life and the values profound changes, which poses a severe challenge to the ideological and political education. Since the release of the Central Document No.16, National College Counselors move towards the direction of professional development, and the higher education sector began to explore the path of the counselor professional development.So far, the professionalization of counselors has gone through a period of several years. The colleges make a variety of attempts to promote the processing, and achieved some results. However, the college counselor professionalization still faces many difficulties. T he reasons for the present situation are the lack of standards, the concept of old-fashioned, institutional rigidities, policy conflicts etc. The article attempts to break through the original study which is limited to the general research, and focus on the status and paths of professionalization of counselors. Then the article tries to establishing the direction and standards for professionalization of counselors, to changing the difficult situation.The article is divided into four parts. The first section introduces, introduces the significance of the topic, research summary, research ideas, research methods, research innovation etc. The second chapter builds a standard system achieved by the professionalization of counselors. Through theoretical research, this section defines the standards of the professionalization of counselors, which includes:purpose of professionalism, professional stage system, professional organization system and occupational skill standards system. This part clarifies the related concepts afterwards, and lays the theoretical foundation of the topic. The Chapter3reports and analyzes a survey at the Z University, to mastering the status quo, difficulties and cause for professionalization of counselors, and sorting out the gap between college counselors practice and professionalism strategies. Built on the front theoretical studies and practical research basis, chapter4aims to build a achieving mode for college counselors professionalism at this stage. The mode involves four major development systems:the career development system, the organization development system, the management development system and environmental development system.
