Research On The Intervention Of Social Work Into The Foster Service Of The Adults Mentally Disabled People

Adults mentally disabled people are not able to live independently, because they are subject to the barrier of intelligence and the ability of social adaptation. The problem of how to taking care of them has become a heavy burden of their family. The plan of Sunshine home carried out by CDPF has been popularized in the whole country. It was established as the foster service institution for disabled person. However, the sunshine home foster service in central region is still in the stage of collective learning and working, which lacking of individual service and interactive system around. So, there is necessary to take the social work intervention.The intervention research based on a sunshine home day care agencies in Y city of Hunan province, after study on the home and abroad relevant literature, the author choose to use the three theories, which are Ecosystem, Strengths perspective and Community care. Established a service framework for the social work intervention into the foster service of the adult mentally disabled people and carried on the social work intervention practice. After completion the individual and group work, the author summarized the work practice, thought that intervention of social work into the foster service of the adult mentally disabled people need integrated use of three work methods, need collaboration and support from professional team and need to improve the self-determination ability of mentally disabled people. And discussed the suggestion of promote the social work intervention from the macro level, including policy support, strengthen cooperation and development industry association.
