An Investigation About Employment Services Of Mentally Disabled Employees In The Sunshine Workshop Of Shenyang

Mentally disabled people cannotparticipate in the normalemployment competition because of their lower intelligence and ability of social adaptation, which results in low employment rate and high employment pressure. To protect their welfare, improving their employability and creating jobs for them are very important.The Sunshine Workshop in Helping District of Shenyang is the first Sunshine Workshop in this city. When recruit the moderate and mild mental disabled who get parts of self management living ability, the Sunshine Workshop helps to develop their employment skills and social resilience and achieved the goal of employment and daily foster. The Sunshine Workshop also frees their families at the same time as it relieves psychological pressure and economic pressure of their parents. The establishment of Sunshine Workshop benefits both the individuals and the society and was favored by parents of mental disabled people.In this thesis, the Sunshine Workshop in Helping District of Shenyang was chose to be the object. The literature method, survey method and interview method were comprehensively used to collect relevant data. The Ecosystem Theory, the Empowerment Theory and the Reinforcement Theory were applied to survey and study the Sunshine Workshop. The thesis analysis the social work property of the Sunshine Workshop.Several problems existed in the process of helping the mental disabled people obtain jobs were discovered: the mental disabled people performed bad in adapting todifferent jobs, the work technical of the mental disabled people need further improvement, the workers in the Sunshine Workshop have to improve their professional ability, the project resources suitable for the mental disabled people were limited. Also, the causes of these problems were analyzed in this thesis.Then, group work was applied to intervene into the mental disabled peopleto improve their adaptability to different jobs, professional consciousness and professional technical. Groupwork wasalso applied to intervene into the workers in the Sunshine Workshop to improve their ability to find self shortcomings in service, and strengthen theirability in the application of professional skills by simulating and reoccurring tough events in daily work. At last, the thesis put forward some suggestions,e.g., the Sunshine Workshop has to introduce scientific and professional social workmethods, strive for the support from social policy and social resources.
