In the past few years, the question who should be in charge of the management of classes has been discussed ardently by the school staff. Students’needs and problems are so diverse in the general education classrooms that it is impossible for teachers to constantly manage and monitor their classes successfully. But they can teach and help students to manage their own classes. As a matter of fact, class self-management was put forward a few years ago, but it hasn’t gotten enough recognition and attention in the realm of education. For searching the truth, the author principally researched how to implement class self-management in junior high schools by taking the NO.3Junior High School of Yueyang Petrochemical Limited, as an example. The self-management in the title does imply that students should be responsible for the duty of managing their classes. Class self-management provides students with enough opportunity to administer their classes. It has the advantage of helping students to become more independent and allow them to experience positive feelings in the school life. Thereby, this research has a strong realistic significance.Firstly, this thesis illustrates two central concepts: self-management and class self-management. The author adopts two methods (Documentary Analysis and Cases Analysis) to study the implementation of class self-management in junior high schools. Secondly, the author detailedly analyses the crucial questions and reasons about dominated class management to show the necessity of class self-management. Next, the goals, the content and the primary principles on actualizing class self-management are established. Fourthly, the thesis expatiates on the whole process, the important stages and the strategies about this research. It includes the amelioration about class rules, the innovation in the system about cadres, the measures of cultivating students’abilities. Besides, it also describes the steps on implementing class self-management. Fifthly, the author illuminates the results of the research. It mainly relates to fostering citizens for the future, enhancing class management level and cultivating cadres’ abilities. At last, the author speaks of her self-reflection according to this management pattern.
