Nowadays, academic circle has paid more attention on the development and use ofcurriculum resources while the progress of compulsory education develops with steady steps.Curriculum resources include a wild extension and a complicated content, especially lots ofpotential local art resources that have its individualism and artistry can be exploited and beused. China, a country with5000years history, contains enormous art resources ineverywhere; and these should be used effectively in our art teaching course of primary school,all of the resources should be found and dig out, and found out the points fit for the art lesson.To exploit their modern, local, artistic value for art education is suitable for curriculum reformand moral education.Pilu temple, located in Shijiazhuang city, with a history of1200years, is an ancienttemple that once in charged in Linji branch of Buddhism. There are many Shui Lu Ritesmurals of Ming dynasty (paintings about releasing the souls from suffering) hung in the wallsof Sakyamuni hall and Pilu hall. Mural in temple usually used to describe a certain branch ofreligions, such as famous Gansu Dunhuang murals, Beijing Fahai temple murals, ShanxiYongle palace murals, but Pilu temple murals contains Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism,splendid and colorful. These murals showed a high artistic value in color, layout, and process,and could be regarded with a masterpiece of Chinese ancient temple murals.There are many articles about Pilu temple mural research all time, but their theme mostpoint to the religions or the art feature, pay few attention on the usage of curriculum resources.This paper take Pilu temple murals as the potential resources of appreciation of art forprimary school, and analyze the possible to develop these resources for the teaching courseespecially the real class. Firstly I elaborated the meaning of local art course resourcessystemically form a theoretical level, analyze all similar concepts and their mutualrelationships, then give the definition of local art course resources, point out the principlesand ways of how to develop and use these local resources. After that I researched the historyand characteristics of ancient Chinese temples’ mural, and emphasis on analysis of artcharacteristics and aesthetic value of Pilu temple murals in Shijiazhuang, point out the meaning to take Pilu temple murals as the curriculum resource. On this basis, I gave anin-depth study on how to applied Pilu temple murals in practical teaching as local art courseresources, and according to mine years of teaching experience, I gave out a teaching plan andevaluation to the three levels of primary school: low middle and high, hope to form acurriculum resources development mode that can be used practically.
