The students in secondary vocational schools are generally poor in English. Theirscores are often low. In a big class containing50students, the students’ English levels aredifferent, some may get high marks of90-100, others may get60and still others just20. Inthis case, classroom teaching by using the traditional teaching methods may result in thefact that good students can not learn more in class and waste a lot of time and energy; thestudents who are poor in English may not be able to follow their teachers in class but fall inmental weariness and fears. Hence, a reasonable approach is to carry out teaching atdifferent levels, based on the students’ individual differences. The research aims to find out if leveled teaching in secondary vocational schoolEnglish class can build students’ learning interests and whether leveled teaching insecondary vocational school English class helps to improve students’English learningeffectiveness. The study presents the research background―the necessity and significance ofapplying leveled teaching in secondary vocational school English class.
