In the Republic of China, Women’s vocational education, promoted by the urgent needs of development of national capitalism economy, the feminist movement, the pragmatism educational thought, and the Chinese Vocational Community, had gradually developed into a kind of education specialized in teaching women living skills. As the important part of modern education and promotion for female liberation and modernized development of women’s vocational education, it has valuable meaning of theory and reality by deep research.In this thesis, the development of women’s vocational education could be divided into three historical stages by taken clue of school form evolution in women’s vocational education:in the first stage (1912-1921), women’s vocational education got independent status and made a little progress; in the second stage (1922-1930), women’s vocational education were held in schools of different levels and types, turning out to be a prosperous trend of development; in the third stage (1931-1949), women’s vocational was separated from various of schools and formed its own system, the overall development slowed down, only the nurse schools developed quickly.The Chinese learned advanced experiences of running women’s vocational education actively from Japan, Europe and the United States, with brave attempt and exploration, they finally established three basic types of schools including women’s vocational school, women’s vocational major and women’s vocational supplementary school. In all these schools, women’s vocational school set up complete specifications, diverse education level and rich teaching contents; women’s vocational major was affiliated to comprehensive second schools, which was relatively simple both in school level and curriculum; women’s vocational supplementary school not only had separate school, but also affiliated school. Its teaching time was flexible and shorter, and recruited students were illiterate or lower educated adult women, emphasizing on skill training in quick method.In all, women’s vocational education In the Republic of China had distinct characteristics with diverse school-running subject, civilized object, rich curriculum, practical teaching method, profitable purpose. Women’s vocational education In the Republic of China offered strong institutional guarantee for women to learn skills, made them acquire living skills and gradually grew to be producer of social profits from consumers, which extremely promoted the social and economic development of the National Republic of China. Meanwhile, women’s subject consciousness was aroused, awakening them from the traditional idea of " depending man for living", opening women’s eyes to society, and seeking the way to liberation of "bearing responsibility, to be a citizen" same as men. In addition, women’s vocational education In the Republic of China was available to ordinary working people, it recruited poor families’ women, accelerating the democratization process of China’s education and promoting the modernization development of women’s vocational education in China.
