China is a country with a long history,the idea of the ancient feudal ethical moralitybranded a deep imprint on every Chinese,especially on every Chinese women.“Women’sthree obedience and four virtues”“male superiority” and “innocence is the virtue forwomen”, these feudal thought deeply imprison them. All these thoughts lead them to have noright to accept school education. Modern women’s education in Gansu started from churcheducation. In1865, Belgian NaHuaiRen in Qingyang, Gansu province, the founder of theimmaculate Heart of Mary, founded the first missionary school. It broke the path for thewomen to accept education. Then, parochial women education developed quickly in Gansu.From then on, the women of the Gansu province started to go out and accepted schooleducation, which took the first step in the women’s liberation.This article captures the early period from the beginning of the republic of China to theperiod of victory of the Anti-Japanese War,To study the regional development of the women’sschool education,it takes the women’s school education as the research object.The womenschool education in Gansu province of the republic of China, as a part of the national womenschool education,not only has the common character of the national education, but also has itsown character, which has a practical significant on the research.The thesis consists of six parts;they are introduction, four chapters and conclusion. Theintroduction elaborated the background of the topic and the cause of the topic, domestic andlocal research status, research methods, research emphasis, research difficulty, research dataand several important problems and the definition of the concept.The first chapter narratesthree backgrounds of modern women’s school education in Gansu province from a wide range.The second chapter is the important part of the thesis, it described the developments of thethree stages of modern women’s school education in Gansu province in details. The thirdchapter narrates the roles of the development of the women’s school education have taken onthe society. The fourth chapter describes the general situation of the development of themodern women’s school education in Gansu province. In the history of modern Chinesewomen’s school education, Gansu started lately and developed slowly, it presents the charactors of each stages! The last part is the conclusion of the whole thesis, it narrates on therising and development of the women’s school education in Gansu province. The women inGansu started to read and write, learn culture, get knowledge and are concerned about the national events and even take the responsibility to the society. It not only broke through thetraditional thought of “innocent is virtue of the women”,but also changed the women’sworld outlook, women’s value and women’s ideological and moral standards greatly.Underall these influences,our society is becoming more and more open. Further, women in Gansuinspired by the leadership of new excellent intellectual women, not only braving out of theirhomes, beginning to go to the society, dedicated to political life, but also promoting thedevelopment of the women’s liberation in Gansu province.
