In the past decade, more and more students could receive higher education due to university enrollment expansion, which affected vocational education, especially for the vocational education in senior secondary vocational school. English teaching in senior secondary vocational school encounters the challenges in that most students do not have a sound foundation for English study and they are not interested or lack confidence in English learning which result in a failure of English teaching. Many English teachers in senior secondary vocational school applied different methods to English teaching to solve the problems, but the results were not satisfied. The current study attempts to apply the approach of Multiple Intelligences to English teaching in the senior secondary vocational school. With the mixture of quantitative and qualitative methods, this study aims to investigate student satisfaction with the approach of Multiple Intelligences in order to provide the pedagogical suggestions for future English teaching in senior secondary vocational school.This study attempts to answer the following three research questions:(1) What is the general student satisfaction with the English teaching based on the theory of Multiple Intelligences?(2) What aspects are students satisfied with Multiple Intelligences?(3) What aspects are students dissatisfied with Multiple Intelligences?This study was carried out in the two classes of tourism in Liaoning Province Labor and Economy Vocational School. After two-month English teaching with Multiple Intelligences,85students in the two classes answered the home-developed questionnaire for student satisfaction and10students were randomly chosen to be interviewed. Questionnaire data were analyzed with SPSS17.0software.The research findings of the present study are:(1) Generally speaking, the students are satisfied with the approach of Multiple Intelligences.(2) Students feel satisfied with Multiple Intelligences in teaching attitude, teaching contents and teaching organization. Students felt most satisfied with the assessments which pay attention to their strong intelligences.(3) Students are not so satisfied with teaching effect and they are not satisfied with the improvement of their confidence in English learning.The research findings indicate that the students in senior secondary vocational school are satisfied with Multiple Intelligences. Their interests in English learning and confidence for future career are improved. Multiple Intelligences also help the English teachers realize the students’ talents and specialty and eliminate their negative evaluation on students. Therefore, the approach of Multiple Intelligences should be applied to English teaching in senior secondary vocational school widely.
