It is a common sense that parental involvement will benefit their children’s development. And parental involvement is also a worldwide trend now. However, at present, the parental involvement of mainstream kindergarten is not optimistic. This study take a Waldorf Kindergarten in Hang Zhou as an example, employing the qualitative research approach, research data were collected through observation, interview, and document analysis to explore the situation of parental involvement in the Waldorf Kindergarten. The results of this research will provide suggestions and reference for improvement of the parental involvement in the mainstream kindergarten and Hang Zhou Waldorf Kindergarten. The main findings were as follows:1. The fields of Parents in X Kindergarten involved are wide. They involved many economic affairs, administrative affairs and teaching affairs etc.2. Types of parent involved can be classified as:parenting, communication, volunteering and decision making.3. The main level of parental involvement in X kindergarten is interpersonal participation.4. The main reasons that influenced parent participation are:personal motivation, school factors and parents’background.The main personal motivation that promotes parent participation: communicate education ideologies, provide regularly published schedule on major school events, and aspire of self education. School factors are:create a wardolf community requires parental involvement; parents are easy to participate in a wardolf s curriculum.Based on the above conclusion, we have the following suggestion for X kindergarten:1. Complete the delegated body to promote parent participation;2. To retain the teachers in order to keep the schools normal running.And the inspirations to mainstream schools are:1. Common education concept is the premise of parental involvement;2. Participation in the kindergarten need institutional guarantee;3. Set up parents school, to improve parents’the knowledge and ability to participate;4. Provide opportunities to promote communication among parents and teachers. |
