English learning activities are based on the students’ total psychological activities. The students’ cognitive potential can be fully developed only when their total psychological activities are put into English learning activities positively and actively, and the effect of English learning can be promoted a lot. Actually, for the senior students, English learning not only relates to the intelligence factors, but also has a relationship with the non-intelligence factors, among which, the psychological barrier is an important factor for obstructing English learning.This thesis gives a detailed description of the various manifestations of the psychological barrier in English learning. Meanwhile, the author adopts the questionnaire and personal interview to diagnose learners’main psychological problems in English learning process and analyzes the causes of the psychological barriers from the perspectives of learning attitude, learning method, learning motivation, learning interest and so on. According to the different senior students’characteristics, the proper methods should be discovered and adopted to help them eliminate the psychological barriers and establish confidence in learning English. The final aim of this thesis is to improve the senior students’correct learning motivation, proper learning emotion and behavior so that they can overcome the psychological barriers by themselves and improve their learning proficiency and English ability.
