Sports travel has already become an important branch of our country’s travel products, and also a significant direction of our country’s future travel products.’Drifting tourism belongs to one of the sports tourism. The advantages of special natural conditions, unique climate resources, traffic location, tourist market, policy supporting and human resources in Sichuan province are the theory basis of developing sustainable drifting tourism in Panzhihua. Using the methods of documentation, access, statistical data, analysis and other research methods to investigate Panzhihua’s drifting tourism’s current situation and its sustainable development entirely and analyze the reasons which lead to the current situation of drifting tourism:First, its economic benefit is not obvious because of depending on governmental finance. Second, fixing the pollution sources has a certain influence to the financial resources. Third, the regulation of local industrialization has influenced the development of drifting tourism. Fourth, increased costing has influenced the development of drifting tourism. Fifth, Inadequate infrastructure and lacking of publicity are also the reasons.According to the contradiction point of drifting tourism of Panzhihua, it comes up with a reasonable mode for Panzhihua’s drifting tourism and some strategies and suggeations for peomoting its scientific, systematical sustainable development.Strategies:First, the influence of Hydropower station’s construction is the way for changing West District of Panzhihua city; second, analyzing the drifting sports of Jinsha River’s natural water area rationally can ensure its sustainable development; third, launch "New Drifting, New Experience" series items; fourth, rethink profoundly of the industrialization of drifting base and the development of supporting base; fifth. make most use of the base to launch mass activities; sixth, expose the development thinking of base industrialization.Suggestions:First, base development idea is extremely characteristic, and it demonstrates the significance of camp construction; second, the base foundation condition is superior, which conforms the camp construction demands; third, base’s functional facilities is perfect, which reach the camp construction standard; fourth, specific case:Youngsters’ One Week Outdoor Activity Project.
