This thesis aims at analyzing the current situation and development of the cycling tourism inChengdu area by the methods of investigation, document observation, researching andsummarization. By the analysis on the achievement of the relevant study about cycling tourism fromover the world, to have a comprehensive understanding on tourism as a recently introduced conceptof which includes its original definition, marketing and the characteristics of its participants.The participants’ sexuality, age, tendency for traveling and the budget can all be revealed accordingto the research data. Then the current situation and development could be measured by the researchachievement on basic road construction and transportation, the application of traditional touristresources and the construction of the greenway.However, some problems revealed on the industrialization of the cycling tourism during theresearch on the operating of Chengdu’s cycling tourism market.At last, this thesis tries to find a way to indicate the right direction for the development ofChengdu’s cycling tourism market by describing and analyzing the current situation about some ofthe problems faced in the marketing progress, such as the logistics work in cycling tourism, relativemanagement issues about basic facility construction and information dissemination, and theoptimizing of the urban road system.
