Comprehensive study, as the main contents of Chinese language course in thecompulsory education stage, has existed in the Chinese textbook for ten years. However, due to various reasons, the effect of “comprehensive study” is not good while it looksbeautiful. This paper investigates the case in Panyu Nancun Qianlian Middle School bythe method of documentary and survey. The results of the survey show that both teachersand students identity the importance of comprehensive study and students stronglyinterested in the comprehensive study. But there are also many problems in theimplementation: teachers’ cognition of comprehensive study is not ideal; the idea ofteaching cannot follow the pace of reform; teaching resources is not rich, which restrictsthe comprehensive study to carry out. What’s more, the method of teaching is single andaffects the teaching of “comprehensive study”.According to the results of investigations, some effective strategies have beenproposed based on the facts in this paper. These strategies include: changing educationalconcept and raising the level of teachers, combing with the school situation anddeveloping curriculum resources, changing the teaching way and enhancing theeffectiveness of teaching, paying more attention to the process of training and establishingmultivariate evaluation mechanism, etc.It is expected that these proposed strategies can further boost the implementation ofChinese “comprehensive study” in Panyu District and improve the effectiveness of theimplementation of the “Chinese comprehensive study” in Panyu District.
