Textbooks occupy an important role in teaching that are the most fundamental and important part of teaching materials. All the developed countries in the world attach importance to research and reform in textbooks. Comparing history textbooks of different countries and learning effective experience can prompt absorbing and improvement between countries’ historical education., and also can make the writing of history textbooks in our country much more advanced in education concept.As the emerging developed country of South Asia, Singapore’s rapidly rising has close relationship with its education. Its advanced and distinctive system is worth to know, research to eastern culture system and Confucianism culture. It will has a good reference for China to analyze and study Singapore’s history textbooks. In the situation that Singapore’s history textbooks are still not known to history educational circles in China at present, this article has its value and significance both in academic and practical aspects. Make up for the blank of comparing the history textbooks in China and foreign countries, especially in Singapore history textbooks comparison research. Improve the ability of identification and provide more theoretical basis for further study of Chinese and foreign history textbooks. Help writing history textbooks which keeping pace with the times and fit the situation of our country. Find the shortage of the textbook construction of our country on the basis of the comparison, and put forward some constructive enlightenment according to the comparison results that have reference significance of our country’s textbooks reform and revision.Based on the above points, this thesis takes junior high school history textbooks of The People’s Education Press and the Singapore ministry of education as the basic data for comparison, and try to make a clear comparison on content and structure with examples, so that history education workers could get a more comprehensive understanding of the history textbooks for the developed countries and for the use of new teaching material writing and using for reference. This thesis discuss from four aspects mainly using the methods of literature review and comparative analysis. The first part is "Overview of Chinese and Singapore history textbooks", summarized Chinese and Singapore’s current junior high school history textbooks from the aspects of system, goal and version. The second part is "Content comparison of China and Singapore history textbooks", compared the characteristics and shortages of the two countries’ textbooks’ on the content from content arrangement and style presentation. The third part "Structural comparison of China and Singapore history textbooks" compares from two parts, the text system part and the supporting part. The forth part "Thinking of junior middle school history textbooks’reform in China" mainly analyze progress and problems of junior high school history textbooks in our country on the basis of comparison, and gain some enlightenment on further reform of junior middle school history textbooks in our country. The writing of the history textbooks should attach great importance to the connection of history and social life, meet the need of times development, enhance the practicability of history textbooks. Attach great importance to the combination of information technology and history knowledge, and increase investment in information technology. Pay attention to cultivate students’ critical thinking and creative thinking, in the critical inheritance. Enhance review and consolidation of knowledge, and increase review class to consolidate students’ mastery of knowledge and make them meet the test requirement.
