Art Appreciation Teaching is an important part of Secondary Vocational Education. With the diversified social demanding, this course, undoubtedly, is essential to raise students’overall qualities.Through it, students’ artistic accomplishments are improved implicitly. We aim to stimulate their aesthetic interest in order that their taste accomplishment and ability is cultivated in appreciating the arts.This thesis will analyse the current situation of Secondary Vocational Education and clarify the roles of Art Appreciation Teaching in it.In Chapter One, I will define the concept and features of Art Appreciation. It is subjected to two aspects:Subject and Object. The Subject of appreciation needs to appreciate artistic works based on rational knowledge not perceptional knowledge only.In Chapter Two,I will discuss that Art Appreciation effectively deepens students’ basic knowledge, which actively raises their awareness of art in all forms. From the point view of vocational education, the course of Art Appreciation is tailored for student’s future career, so that art appreciation is diversified and tailored in secondary vocational schools.In Chapter Three, I will describe the current situation of art appreciation course in secondary vocational schools and point out the problems existing and the reason for it through analyzing teaching methods and students’study.In Chapter Four, it is certain that art appreciation teaching is essential to secondary vocational education and students are active participants. I will list the methods of motivating students and improving their comprehensive qualities by this course to meet the requirements of vocational education.
