Job burnout is a phenomenon of emotional exhaustion caused by work. It means that the individual will experience the emotional exhaustion when working under great stress; it is a kind of psychological fatigue. However, as time goes, it will bring great obstacles for the individual’s physical and mental health. With the rapid development of the society, teachers have suffered great pressure from both themselves and outside world, and teaching has become a high-risk group of job burnout.This research adopts the internationally recognized teachers’job burnout questionnaire (the MB1-ES), and aims at107English teachers in nine vocational colleges in Sichuan province to analyze the relationship between teachers’burnout and the demographic variables. Results showed that there is a certain degree of job burnout among English teachers of vocational colleges in Sichuan province. The conclusions drawn in the research are as follows:(1) The English teachers at different age stages significantly differ in terms of dehumanization, teachers over40suffer job burnout most.(2) Divorced English teachers’ emotional exhaustion, dehumanization and low sense of achievements are higher than the married and single, and they are more likely to suffer from job burnout.(3) The English teachers of different titles significantly differ in terms of dehumanization; besides, professor suffers most in terms of emotional exhaustion. The result shows that professors are more likely to suffer from job burnout.(4) Whether English teachers take part-time administrative posts significantly differ in terms of dehumanization. Full-time English teachers’dehumanization is higher than those who take part-time administrative posts. Therefore, the former are more likely to suffer from job burnout than the latter.(5) The nature of the colleges significantly differs in terms of dehumanization and low sense of achievements. The dehumanization of English teachers in private higher vocational colleges is higher than that of public English teachers’.In terms of teachers’sense of achievements; the former is obviously lower than the latter.(6)English teachers’income significantly differs in terms of dehumanization and low sense of achievements. The English teachers whose monthly incomes under RMB2500suffer most in terms of dehumanization and their sense of accomplishments are the lowest.(7)A week’s period significantly differ in low sense of achievements.7-12teaching periods in a week for English teachers suffer most in terms of the low sense of achievements.(8) Gender, teachers’school age and education background differs least in terms of three dimensions.According to the results of this study, this paper combines with the objective reality of developments of vocational colleges in Sichuan province, and analyzes the profound reasons behind English teachers’ job burnout phenomenon.Furthermore, this paper puts forward the countermeasures to prevent and mitigate from English teachers ’job burnout in vocational colleges from three aspects:society, organization and individual.The purpose of this study is to let the people from all walks value the English teachers’ job burnout problems, find out the reasons behind the phenomenon and put forward the corresponding countermeasures to prevent and mitigate from it. Furthermore, to promote the physical and mental health of English teachers in vocational colleges and improve the English teaching quality, which is of certain practical significance for the international development of the vocational education in Sichuan province.
