On The Training System Of Practical Abilities Of Full-time Master Of Engineering

The postgraduate education has been undergoing major changes in the past five years,which caters to the needs of cultivating many types of talents for science and technology,economic and social development of China. On the one hand, we need to improve the qualityof training of academic talents; on the other hand, we shall actively respond to socialdevelopment and train high-level application-oriented talents. In2009, the Ministry ofEducation began to recruit fresh college graduates for full-time postgraduate professionaldegree, including full-time engineering postgraduate, with a purpose of training high-qualityapplication-oriented engineering talents. In order to train capable application-oriented talents,we should make an overall plan of training practical ability of engineering postgraduates fromthe outset.This paper presents that postgraduate students bearing the Master Degree of Engineeringshould have eight key competencies, comparing to the full-time Master of Engineering andthe traditional masters. The author also analyzes the connotation of practical ability systemconstruction of full-time master of engineering and puts forward that we shall focus on thefour aspects, namely: application-oriented teaching staff building, curriculum planning,dissertation standard construction, professional internship planning. The thesis, by researchingcomprehensive reform measures of some universities under the Ministry of Education, makesa summary of the practical ability training system. After an empirical research and acomprehensive analysis of X University we conclude that progresses have been made andproblems are still obvious. Finally, to ensure the smooth implementation of practical abilitytraining system, the author also probes into the management system and systemic warrant, soas to give some suggestions to the full-time engineering academic institutions.
