With the advancing of basic education curriculum reform, life-oriented mathematics teaching has been taken more attention. The separating of education and life is being tried to change of primary mathematics teaching. The concept of life-oriented mathematics teaching has been widely accepted by teachers and students in the current teaching practice. However, Some teachers misinterpreted the connotation and denotation in the life-oriented mathematics teaching, Thus, these teacher cannot handle the relationship between mathematics teaching and life, and they Caught in a misunderstanding in their teaching. At the same time, many students attach less importance to mathematics in life, they lack the sense of mathematics, and they cannot effectively use the mathematics in life. Therefore, as being a primary mathematics teacher, the author considers that it is meaningful to study the Life-oriented primary mathematics teaching.The author adopted literature research, action research and case study method in the paper. Based on the theory of "Education returning to Life", the author studied the typical cases of primary mathematics teaching, analyzed existing educational theory according to her educational practice experience. In the first, the author discussed the necessity of life-oriented primary mathematics teaching from the demand of developments of social, mathematics and new curriculum reform. Then, the author explored the advantages of life-oriented primary mathematics teaching by analyzing the characteristics of primary mathematics studying. After that, based on the "Compulsory Education Mathematics Curriculum Standards (2011Edition)", the author analyzed the present situation of life-oriented primary mathematics teaching from aspects of Concept, Content, Means and Purpose. At last, the author researched the improvement strategy of life-oriented primary mathematics teaching in the context of the new curriculum reform. This improvement strategy contains the aspects of changing teaching concept, integrating teaching material, creating teaching circumstances and building student’s capacities.
