A Study On University Governance Structure Of Chinese Universities

With the rise of knowledge-based economy, the position of universities has been changed from the margins of society to the community center. The relationship between universities and society has more closely; the function of universities has become increasingly prominent. The universities have become a common place for a variety of main activities. In recent years, the international competition becomes increasingly fierce. Rapid development of socio-economic, complex social environment and capricious needs of community all presented a huge challenge for our country. Coupled with a long time, some problems exist in universities itself, such as the academic level is not high; the administrative efficiency is low and other issues. How to balance the contradiction between the universities stakeholders, deal with increasingly complex social environment, and play the role of universities in the future society. The fundamental way is to build the reasonable governance structure of universities in China. Therefore, this study seems very necessary.Firstly, looking for innovation and breakthrough on the basis of existing literature about university governance structure. Around the study about university governance structure in China, to defined the concept of "university, governance and university governance""university governance and university management","university governance and university governance structure". Clarified the theoretical basis of this study-stakeholder theory and organization theory. Stakeholder theory apply to the universities of stakeholder participate in universities governance and coordinate and balance various stakeholders. Organization theory applies to make the universities as an organization to analyze the organization culture and external environment.Secondly, according to the basis hierarchy division of our universities and all kinds of features presented, this paper put forward the hypothesis. On the basis of describing universities authority and governance structure, to divide universities authority and university governance decisions. Proposed tool for the verification of hypotheses-the distribution of power measure table. Through the questionnaire and statistical analysis to describe the statistical results and analyzes the reason.Finally, based on the status of distribution power which is surveyed from different kinds of institutions. This paper put forward corresponding suggestions from the perspectives of stakeholders and organizations. I hope it can ease the conflicts between various stakeholders, regulate the exercise of power and promote the development of university. Ultimately achieve the goal of formatting reasonable university governance structure.
