In1872Qing government dispatched the young boys to study in the united states for the first time,which leads the beginning of the modern overseas’ movement.After that,the surging wave of studying in the united states occurs increasingly and constantly.In the modern history of china,the students studying in the U.S not only inherited Chinese traditional culture,but also imbued different culture and new type of education from the West.They played a leading role in the process of higher education modernization.In this overseas army,most of them took part in the Chinese higher education system especially the group of college teachers when they learned well after came back.In order to reveal the students studied in the United States specific influence on college teachers and contribution,this article chooses this group to research who studied in United States well and came back to China from1872to1937. This article is divided into three parts:The first part introduces the group of students studied in United States in modern China.It analyses the quantity and character of students studied in the U.S.A at different times.There are four different periods,children studied in the U.S,the sports to studied in the U.S in the late Qing dynasty,studying in America by Boxer Indemnity and Nanjing national government of the United States movement.The second part analyses college teachers in modern China who used to study in America.This part research the characters of college teachers in return time,the knowledge structure of students study before and after abroad,to teach in various colleges and universities,which from two aspects of university president and college teachers.The third part illustrates the influence in detail on higher education by college teachers studied in America in modern China which from natural science and social science to specific statements.Then it summarizes the characteristics of college teachers studied in America in modern China form knowledge structure,degree and teaching in alma mater after return to the motherland.The conclusion part to sum up that it had a close relationship with the students abroad on organizing college teachers and the discipline system of modem higher education.
