Education is the foundation of development, and teachers are foundation ofeducation. Teachers’ professional development is an important part of educationreform. To improve the professional quality of teachers is an important guarantee forimproving the quality of teaching. With the development of social and economic andthe improvement of the quality of education, teachers’ work has become increasinglycomplex. As a vocation, the professional development of teachers has become aninevitable trend, including the professional development of the physical educationteachers of primary and secondary schools. In the context of the deep development ofthe new global education reform, the society’s expectations of teachers, the change ofteachers’ roles, frequent change of education reform, has become the goals of teachereducation reform in our country.Teachers are occupational groups with the duty of teaching and education.With the deepening of the reform of education system, the specialized nature ofteachers have presented some new features, and the society, parents and students raiseincreasingly higher demand for teachers. It is the high expectation for teachers fromall works of the society that exacerbate the appearance of job burnout of teachers to acertain extent, which result in more and more teachers with job burnout. Job burnoutrefers to the individual states of physical and mental fatigue which result from one’scan not cope with the excessive requirements of the outside world beyond individualenergy and resources produced, it is the individual disappointment and tired mindwhich arise under the condition of a high social expectation and individual inherent expectation with objective reality can’t reach the desired goals. As a vocation to helpthe others, teachers have a high risk of job burnout. On one hand, teachers’ jobburnout may influence personal physical and mental health and working conditions;On the other hand, it may also inhibit teachers’ professional development.This study aimed to investigate questions of physical education teachers’professional development and job burnout of primary and secondary schools inShandong province. Impacts of job burnout on the status of physical educationteachers’ professional development are discussed, and then some countermeasures areproposed. The main process of the study as follows: Firstly, to get a clear researchstatus from the review of related research literature of the domestic and foreign studyof teachers’ job burnout and professional development. Then, on the theoreticalfoundation of review, using questionnaires and interviews to investigate the status ofphysical education teachers’ job burnout and professional development of primary andsecondary schools in Shandong province, and discuss the results, specifically thestatus of physical education teachers’ job burnout and its influences on teachers’professional development. Finally, from the perspective of the prevention andmitigation of job burnout, a more scientific professional development path of physicaleducation teachers of primary and secondary schools is interpreted. Through thisstudy, it is aimed to offer an empirical research support and theoretical basis forimproving the professional development quality of primary and secondary schoolphysical education teachers, improving the quality of physical education, andpromoting the harmonious development of primary and secondary schools’ physicaleducation teachers in Shandong province.
