In contemporary time, as China is in transition, migration is a socialproblem that cannot be ignored. Population movements affect the economic, social and cultural of the inflowing and outflowing area. And the survivalof the floating population is also worth attention. Eighth in the countryin2014, held the Third Plenary Session, Premier Li Keqiang proposed tocomprehensively promote the urbanization process in China, and to bringten million people transitioning from rural to urban. This is bound tobring a wave of huge influx of population movements in the coming years. Therefore, to avoid or, in another word, prepare for facing the migrationproblem, we can make an abundant study of floating population in advance. The determination on the flow of each person is with nothing but twoconcerns: whether to flow and where to flow. If you can parse through thedemographic characteristics, advance to identify the population with atendency to flow and be able to clear its flow direction, so that easilybuilt is the basis of the management of the floating population. For thispurpose, with data mining methods, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regioninterurban flows of migrants, as well as the flow of migrants under thevarious characteristics were analyzed.First, the situation of the region’s intercity migrants is brieflydescripted in number, including the Union City population inflow, outflowof population, as well as the total net inflow of population migration.By analyzing and calculating the net inflow of the Union City rate andtotal turnover,12cities were differed into four regional types, namely net inflow of active regions, balance active area, net outflow of activeand non-active area.Following analysis on interurban flows of migrants of each city, thegeographic information system is used to interpret the demographicinformation in detail and find the spatial characteristics of theintercity floating population. Then based on economic and social development level of each city, withusing cluster analysis approach, cities were divided into threecategories, and144flows between the upcoming12cities were took intonine kinds of flows. According to the9kinds of flow, analysis of floatingpopulation characteristics under various flow was made.
