With The Music Course Criterion of Full-time Compulsory Education have promulgated, a new innovation of curriculum kicked off. The basic idea of the new curriculum is "all for Chinese nation’s great revival, all in order to promote student’s development". Teacher is the main force of education, which is the key point for the reform and development of the new curriculum. So teacher’s professional development has been a hot topic, which has been a main point to emphasize the teacher research in the educational reform. Especially, now the Education Department pay high attention to compulsory education, given that elementary music teachers are s special group and the slow development of their profession restricted the steady development of the compulsory education’s reform. So seeking out a way for the elementary music teacher’s professional development and analyzing the reason why they developed slowly have a great realistic significance for the Curriculum Revolution.This article state the proposal and content of the new curriculum reform, the definition and the status of teacher’s professional development and the new requirements to music teacher’s professional development on the basis of the literature study, mainly using questionnaire survey and assisted by interview way to analyze the elementary music teacher’s professional development situation in Yinchuan. And making an investigation and analysis of the basic situation, the professional knowledge structure, the recognition of teacher’s professional development and the teaching capabilities to analyze the problems and reasons on the elementary music teacher’s professional development in Yinchuan and the structural features of music and discuss the strategies and the visions of future of elementary music teacher’s professional development in order to know the major problems and the status of the elementary music teacher’s professional development and give some advices about promoting teacher’s professional development.
