With the popularization of higher education development, especially the implementation of the unifying enrollment mechanism and the reform of the tuition fee system, higher education in China has entered a totally new historical stage, which brings to the fore the relief system for poverty-stricken college students. The system is now confronted with new problems and challenges. Currently, there are many students give up independent colleges run by three types of colleges to choose colleges, which is a very important reason is that the gap between the costs. The reform of higher education has provided the poverty-ridden students with opportunities to further their studies, thus how to deal with the problems facing those students in institutions of higher learning, vocational colleges in particular, has always been the focus of our nation, our society and our schools as well. As a consequence, improving the relief work, perfecting the relief system and working out a practical solution is not only an embodiment of the favorable policies offered by the Party and the country but contributes to building a harmonious campus, also related to the value-oriented public opinion.Based on the relevant data, Author compares the findings both at home and abroad, summarizing their pros and cons. It continues to explore the four evolution process for the relief mechanism, laying bare the value and significance in each process and the reasons for the evolution. It has been an arduous and long-term task to study the general grim situation for those poverty-stricken college students. As a result, the essay elaborates on every aspect of the relief system including the existing mechanism of the provision of scholarships and financial aids, part-time jobs, loans, subsidies, tuition remission and the green channels. The essay conducts an in-depth analysis of the problems of the relief system, which tend to be triggered by the governments, the society, the colleges and the students themselves. To conclude the essay, the writer comes up with several suggestions regarding the relief mechanism in order that more people will focus their attention on those students, hence providing a platform for their personal development.
