With the evolution of higher education, the scale of higher vocational colleges is constantly expanding. Up to 2014, higher vocational colleges have accounted for 40% of the whole higher education institutions. Meanwhile, with the constant extention of higher vocational colleges during these years, the number of imporished students has grown continually as well.Even though Chinese government keeps improving supporting system, there are still problems at present, for instance, a great number of students not familiar with supporting policies, subsidy regime being deficient, whether the funded students keep their faith or not,students suffer from both financial and mental poverty etc, which have hindered the development of students.Based on the data collected by questionnaires and interviews, this article explored and analysed the current situation of subsidy system applied by Y College. Finally,pointed out problems, discussed the reasons and provided solutions.This article was divided into five chapters. Firstly, the background and meaning of this research were presented. In the next chapter, it mainly introduced the current situation of poverty-striken and sponsored students including related theoretical concepts and the characteristics of subsidy system and poverty students. Chapter3 showed the results of data analysis, and also analysed the funding system applied by Y College. In the following part, it put forward a number of problems including the broad gap between funding supply and demand, the lack of funding sources, defective funding regime, paying much more attention both to financial and mental support etc. In addition, it carried out the analysis, respecting social,organizational and personal perspectives. The chapter5 advised to improve the internal and external environment to grant the diversity of funding source and supporting policies; to make efforts to enrich diversity of funding structure so that students could get support from both financial and mental aspects; higher vocational colleges to expand the diversity of ways to provide funding and create diversified supporting system. Creating diversified supporting system would help different higher vocational colleges to take kinds of specific measures, contribute to the further improvements, guarantee students' interests,facilitate the sustainable development of higher vocational colleges, and promote social harmony and progress.
