Research On Open Source Community Growth Mechanism Based On The Theory Of Resource-based View

With the wide application of open source software in the world, open sourcecommunity has played an increasingly important role in promoting open source softwaredevelopment process.Based on the former results of organization growth mechanism,inorder to put forward strategies and measures for open source community,thispaper.Exploring the various factors and its mechanism of action which affect open sourcecommunity growth can make a lot of influential open source community and promote theopen source software industry development.Based on the theory of Resource-Based View(RBV) on general organizations growthpath "resource-capacity-growth"， this paper defines open source communitycomplementary matching capability and designs its structure.With regard to open sourcecommunity’s mission and public knowledge production features,the structure involvesopen source community developer reputation satisfy ability and customization satisfyability by social exchange theory and complementary matching theory;According to theprocess of open source community knowledge sharing,knowledge sharing process isdivided into knowledge acquisition and knowledge contribution much further;Open sourcecommunity growth structure is designed from both quality and quantity aspects whichinvolves participants loyalty and open source community popularity.From the perspectiveof knowledge sharing,this paper builds an "open source community complementarymatching capability-knowledge sharing-open source community growth" mechanismmodel for empirical research.This paper supposes that developer reputation satisfy abilityand customization satisfy ability can affect open source community growth by impactingopen source community knowledge sharing level.Through data analysis,this paperconfirmed developer reputation satisfy ability promotes open source community growthvia open source community knowledge sharing level.Further,we confirmed the positiveimpacts of customization satisfy ability on open source community growth.Based on theconclusions, this paper has put forward some suggestions for Chinese open source community.The theoretical value of this paper reflects that researching growth path and regularpattern on open source community which with public knowledge productionfeatures,further more,this paper enriches peer production organization growth theory fromthe perspective of knowledge sharing.This paper gets the support of natural science foundation of Shandongprovince(ZR2011GM010) and is the content of this project.
