In the new curriculum reform, in order to change the traditional teaching ignores students’ ability development, in the textbook, the original "operating system" is replaced by the emerging "activity system", at the same time,"ordinary high school geography curriculum standard (Experiment)" propose curriculum reform prospects that the new geography curriculum teaching should pay more attention to the subject of "core competence" training. But in our country, due to the long-term restriction of exam oriented education thought, raises the student geography subject ability still did not get enough attention, the current situation of the development of geography subject ability is worrying, the activity system of high school geography textbook as an important carrier of promoting the development of students’ ability, teaching implementation situation is not just as one wishes. Research on how to effectively use the activity system of high school geography textbook to train the students’ subject ability, has important significance to improve the teachers’ understanding of the text, rich text theory system of the activity system, implement the geography new curriculum requirements and promote the new geography curriculum reform in our country.This paper is divided into six parts:The first part is the introduction. This part first analyzes the research background and research significance, followed by combing the current situation both at home and abroad, summarizes the main research results and shortcomings of existing and some enlightenment for the research, and finally introduces the research methods and research ideas.The second part explores the theoretical basis of how to use the activity system of high school geography textbook to train the students’ subject ability from Dewey’s "learning by doing", Tao Xingzhi’s "combination of teaching" theory, teaching theory of activity, the zone of proximal development theory, the geographical concept of the new curriculum four aspects.The third part defines the concept of activity system, divides the PEP compulsory1of "system" category according to the students’ geographical core competence, expounds the teaching function of different types of activities on the cultivation of students’ ability and the analysis of the potential value of different types of activities to train students’ ability for example.The fourth part is the present situation analysis. Through the form of questionnaire to investigate, statistic and analyze teacher’ understanding and the status of implementation of "the activity system" of high school geography textbook, analyses teacher’ Cognitive situation, using situation and the problems in the process of the "activity system" from the cultivation of students’ geography subject ability angle.The fifth part is the strategy research. This part first proposed the use of" the activity system of high school geography textbook" to cultivate students’ ability of basic principles, including the participation principle, operation principle, leading principle, open principle and the principle of subjectivity. Then under the guidance of these principles and probes into the application of geography textbook " activity system" to cultivate students’ ability of basic strategy from general strategy and different types (problem solving, hands-on type, the discussion type) activities of the geography textbooks to train students’ ability of strategy.The sixth part is the conclusion. This part summarizes the basic conclusions of this study, points out the existing problems and shortcomings, and thinking of further research on this topic is proposed.
