The in recent years, the society has focused more and more attention on the mental health of teachers in high and middle schools. With the development of the society and economy, higher requirements are put on teachers, who have to face more occupation pressure for them. With the full implementation of quality education and the new curriculum reform, there is more voice to improve and more focus on these teachers’mental health. As educators themselves, whether their mental health is normal will directly affect that of the next generation. Therefore, at the present stage, it has become an important research topic that study the status and influencing factors to the mental health of teachers in high and middle schools.The study adopts the statistic of "personal information questionnaire","SCL-90clinical symptom self rating scale" of456teachers of nine schools in Changsha City. Through the statistical analysis of the SPSS19.0, it analyses on the influence factors of their mental health and puts forward reasonable constructive solutions and measures. Two pieces of investigation data in different times have been gained by tracking survey of YH middle school for nearly a year, through which speculate the changes of teachers’mental health in different periods. And two pieces data statistics of these surveyed teachers’in different periods have been focused to study.The study results show that:1. Community characteristics of mental health:the level of mental health of middle school teachers in Changsha is not optimistic.2. The mental health status between different groups:The level of mental health of high school male teachers is better than that of female high school teachers; Compared with unmarried teachers, married teachers is better; The party member teachers is better than non-party people;More than20years of teaching teachers is better than other teaching age groups of teachers;The teacher in charge is better than the non-teacher; he level of mental health of middle school teachers had no significant difference in qualifications, diploma, position, and the teaching subjects in school but there are a little differences.3. Near period examinations, the overall level of mental health of teachers is lower than that in the usual study time.4. Professor of chemistry course of teachers’mental health condition and there was no significant difference with teachers in other subjects, but on the whole their psychological health level is lower.5. Compare with in a negative way deal with or not as a way to cope with the teacher of class student performance, class student achievement in a positive way to deal with the teaching of teachers with is better.According to the above research conclusion, specific suggestions are to be proposed mainly from the social concept, the actions of the government, schools, teachers themselves and so on. Some of the suggestions are:1. The first, the relevant government departments (the National Mental Health Association) establish and improve a census website to survey the mental health of the high and middle school teachers.2. The second, each school (primary and secondary schools in urban or rural) shall establish mental health census data archiving for school teacher.3. The third, a reform for school management system shall be put into effect to implement the humanized management--flexible on-duty system.4. The fourth, alleviate the occupation burnout, and reduce teacher cognition depletion.
