School characteristics is a concentrated expression of the school’s educational philosophy and values is an accumulation of the historical development of the school, also reflects the school’s development potential and vitality. Characteristics of Running a school is that the school find their strengths in the development process, formed its own characteristics, and promote the rapid development of the school through the characteristics of development, so school characteristics is an important way to achieve quality education. The school characteristic is an important way for the school to achieve people-oriented, student-centered, to promote the overall development of students for the purpose and to achieve personality development of students of educational reform.The first part of the study descript the origin and meaning of school characteristics and combing existing research of school characteristics, proposed research methodology in this paper. The second part is related to theoretical issues of school characteristics, including the Concepts of school characteristics, the meaning of school characteristics. The third part detailed the hundred year’s progress of Y primary school, including the development stage of history, results of Y primary school and the existing school characteristics. The fourth part describes the created problems of school characteristics, comparison with other primary schools, most of the school characteristics of Y are lack of uniqueness; characteristics just for the work; characteristics ignoring history. The fifth part is mainly to solve the problem, to reconstruct characteristics, conduct research through what channels to determine the characteristics; to determine what characteristics; who identified characteristics, etc., then to determine the creation methods, principles, implementation steps of the school’s characteristics, Based on the original features to amend, adjust, reconstruct the school characteristics. Part VI summarizes the key and experience in the reconstruction process of Y elementary school characteristics that to provided reference for other schools.This paper is a process research on reconstructing school characteristics of Y primary school, not only showing the results. This study clearly documented and analyzed the entire process to reconstruct the Y elementary school characteristics, from determine the approach, needed to do, the school principals and teachers how to participate in the reconstruction of school characteristics, to more specific work of school characteristics to re-structure. This study suggests that school characteristics should pay attention to the process of the construction process from the principal to the teachers and students to participate in school characteristics, and school characteristics as an important way to school development and quality education, teachers and students should jointly determine the vision, and make joint efforts to realize it.
