This thesis has studied the classroom lead-in in senior high school English class. Classroom lead-in is the main place for students’English learning. It has been an important task for the English language teachers to make full use of the limited time in the classroom to enhance students’ learning efficiency. As the first teaching link of a lesson, classroom lead-in plays an indispensable role.Based on Krashen’s second language theory and motivation theory in second language acquisition, this thesis has studied the following two questions:1) Does classroom lead-in have effects on the five factors of students’learning interest, learning motivation, learning attitude, learning autonomy and confidence?2) Does there exist a relationship between the five factors and students’test scores? In this experiment, two parallel classes (class511and512) of Senior One students in Li Ling No.1Middle School were chosen as the subjects. Then, the research adopted teaching experiment and questionnaire as the main approaches. Finally, the author analyzed the research data by applying to the Independent-Samples T-Test, the Paired-Samples T-Test and the Multiple Linear Regression Analysis. This study discovered that:1) In the experimental class, after the experiment, there are significant changes in terms of students’learning interest, learning motivation, learning attitude, learning autonomy and confidence, meanwhile there are no such significant changes in the control class.2) Students’test scores have been improved evidently, while students’test scores in the control class have not been improved as well.3) By employing the multiple liner regression analysis, we can find that there exist causal relationship between students’learning interest, learning motivation, learning autonomy and their test scores, changes in the three factors can largely account for students’test scores. The author hopes that this study can help high school English teachers realize the importance of classroom lead-in and that it can provide some references of English classroom teaching so as to enhance the efficiency of classroom teaching.
