Lead-in is a teaching activity designed to “warm students up” at the beginning of a class.A well-designed lead-in can make students get psychological preparation,stimulate their positive thinking and motivate their learning interest.As a result,students can actively take part in the classroom learning and make a better performance with confidence.Lead-in affects the realization of teaching objectives and classroom teaching quality and it also has an important impact on the efficiency of students' involvement in the whole class.Therefore,the application of lead-in in class makes an important influence on the effect of students' learning.In order to figure out the effect of lead-in on students' classroom involvement in the English classes of senior high school,the author carried out a quantitative and qualitative research in two classes who are regarded as the experiment subjects in grade one within three months.There are three questions to be solved in this research.First,whether lead-ins will promote students' more classroom involvement in English classes of senior high school? Second,in what aspects can lead-ins make students actively involve in English classes of senior high school? Third,what suggestions on proper lead-ins can be proposed to promote students' classroom involvement in English classes of senior high school? By means of classroom observation,questionnaire and interview research methods,the author collected and analyzed all the data so as to prove that a proper lead-in can attract students' attention and also make them more actively involve in the English class to a great degree,and it is helpful to make the classroom atmosphere joyful.What's more,the performances of lead-in improved the students' classroom involvement in the three aspects: cognitive involvement,behavioral involvement and emotional involvement,which were improved in different degree.At last,the author made some suggestions on lead-in to promote students' classroom involvement in English classes of senior high school,which will be helpful for the students' classroom learning.
