Research On The Faculty’s Teaching Incentive Mechanism With The View Of Undergraduate Teaching Quality Assurance

Higher education in China has experienced a sustained and rapid expansion, and now enters a new era. The quality for undergraduate teaching is addressed increasing attention. While there are problems facing the undergraduate education, such as the faculties’reluctance to put efforts on the undergraduate education, which obstacles the improvement of the quality of the undergraduate education.The cause of the reluctance lies in the defects of the stimulate system, which include the neglect of the teaching in the performance and employment evaluation, the underrated salary system, the unbalance of the stimulation system regarding to the teaching and research respectively and the insufficiency in the career and professional development for teachers. Meanwhile, the root of the defects of the stimulate system lies in the impropriate planning of some universities, the biased evaluation from society, the invisibility of the input to the undergraduate education, the unbalanced planning in positions, the difficulties in the evaluation of the quality of undergraduate education and the universities’lopsided views on the stimulation system. With regard to the experience of foreign universities, this thesis highlights the solutions to perfect the stimulation system for undergraduate education, namely to raise the awareness of the importance of undergraduate education, to improve the salary system of university faculties, to reform the evaluation system of undergraduate education, to establish the teaching-oriented honorary and grant awards and to boost the career and professional development for teachers.
