A Learning Plan refers to a study program drafted and designed by teachers in order to guide the students to construct their knowledge system initiatively based on their current cognitive level of knowledge and experience. Learning Plan Teaching is a new type of teaching model that emphasizes the students’ autonomous learning with the Learning Plan being the carrier of the teaching activity and the teacher being the conductor of guidance and requires the cooperation of the teacher and students to complete the task of teaching. It aims to cultivate the students’ self-study ability and improve the teaching efficiency.The paper can be divided into five parts. Chapter One serves as the introduction part, including, the research background, research purpose and overview of the thesis. Chapter Two presents the literature review of the thesis. Chapter Three is the research design, including hypothesis and objectives, research subjects and research method. Chapter Four is to collect and analyze the tests, questionnaires and interviews. Chapter Five provides a summary on the major findings, and limitations of the research, and some suggestions for future research are also presented in this part.The purpose of the research is to explore the effect of the application of Learning Plan in junior middle school’s English teaching, through the contrast with the traditional teaching model.The experiment was carried out in a junior middle school which lasts for a term. The subjects are94students who come from two classes in Grade Eight. One of the classes is experimental class which employs Learning Plan in English teaching, and the other class still adopts the traditional model of English teaching. Before the experiment, the students in the two classes are similar in the aspects of English achievement and learner autonomy. The experimental instruments are two tests, one questionnaire and two interviews. With the help of SPSS software, the author analyses the students’twice test scores. After analyzing the tests, the questionnaires and interviews, the author draws a conclusion that the English test scores, autonomous learning ability and the cooperative awareness of the experimental class are obviously higher than those of the control class. Therefore, applying the Learning Plan in English teaching can improve students’English learning effects.
