According to the Chinese philology and the science of Chinese characters formation andexegesis, using a systematic and inductive method, this thesis will do a exhaustive analysis onmonosyllabic words which are communicated by the term “through” and “with” of classicalChinese part of5compulsory and2optional Chinese teaching materials from the high schoolunder the new curriculum standard,and reclassifies the words according to the relationship ofcharacters. Then it discusses the nature of the annotated terminologies in classical Chinese ofthe senior middle school. Furthermore, the thesis offers some suggestions for teaching andteaching material compilation.The thesis is divided into four parts, and the basic contents are as follows:The first chapter mainly explains the contents, meaning and the method of the thesis, aswell as the feasibility of the thesis and the material source, even more, the theoretical basis. Itsummarizes the current researches about phonetic loan characters, ancient and modernChinese words, variant characters, and cognate words, as well as the research on the annotatedterminologies in classical Chinese of the senior middle school.The second chapter mainly defines the concepts of phonetic loan characters, ancient andmodern Chinese words, variant characters and cognate words, determining defined standardsof intergroup relations of several characters, and also differentiates and analyzes theconnection and difference between them.The third chapter mainly classifies the characters communicated by the term “through”and “with” in classical Chinese of the senior middle school. There are two sorts of therelationship. One is that using common words to annotate rarely-used words, using familiarwords to annotate unfamiliar words. In fact, the relationship of characters doesn’t existbetween them. Another is that the relationship of characters exists between them: phoneticloan characters, ancient and modern Chinese words, variant characters and cognate words.The fourth chapter, according to the previous research of the words communicated by theterm “through” and “with”, does a comprehensive and objective appraisal about the natureand using condition of the annotated terminologies in classical Chinese of the senior middle school, and then gives some advice for teaching and teaching material compilation.The last is the conclusion that summarizes the content of this study.
