On The Status Quo Of Social Sciences In Jilin Province And Countermeasures For Further Development

Social sciences have human society as their research object and they study andexplain the phenomena and law of development of human society with scientificmethods, with a view to helping people form their outlook of the world, of human lifeand of value. They also attach great importance to theoretic knowledge and scientificthinking as well as the knowledge of social development and social management andits application.From the perspectives of the concept, characteristics and functions of socialsciences and the relationship between humanities and social sciences, efforts havebeen made in this paper to review the historical evolution and development trend ofthe concept of philosophies and social sciences. The development process and majorachievements of the social sciences in Jilin Province have been mentioned togetherwith the status quo of them. On the other hand, there are also many problems anddefects with the development of the social sciences research in Jilin Province. Theimportance attached to the social sciences research in Jilin Province has not beensufficient, and the mechanism and system of social sciences research and itsmanagement has had no clear objectives and goals. The investment and fund isinsufficient, while the structure of the academics is not reasonable. There are no clearevaluation system for research talents and their researches. The quality research ishard to find while the other side of the coin is that researchers do not find enoughincentive to perform high-quality research. What’s worse, the administration team ofthese researches cannot boast of high quality, either. With the defects found,suggestions and countermeasures have been raised concerning the enhancement of thefunction of social sciences in the economic development, the promotion anddeepening of the reform and the management mechanism of social sciences, the increase of the input fund, the enhancement and perfection of the mechanism fortalent selection and management, the establishment of the assessment and promptingmechanism in social sciences and the construction of the system for the check andevaluation of the management of social sciences researches.
