Research Traditional Social Work Institutions Transform Into Social Enterprise

There is huge change of China’s society and economy during the30years of reform and opening up. Not only greatly enhance the economic level, people’s living standards have greatly improved. While with the economic level rising, many social problems have gradually prominent. At this time social work appeared, it play an irreplaceable role in the area for the mitigation of social conflicts. Up to now, there are more than1000private social work institutions in China, and these private institutions have already carried out social work services in people’s livelihood, health care, education, pensions, youth, community and other fields.In recent years, a large number of professional social workers were cultivated and imported; those made such social work institutions enter the booming period. At the same time, those social work agencies have began to face the "growing pains". The problems like a high proportion of social worker drain and over-reliance on government’s resources and so on have made the development of social work service get into hot waters.At this point, a new development model of social work agencies-social enterprises, jumped into the public view. As a new organization, social enterprise has its own advantages and can successfully circumvent all of the difficult position that social work organization encountered recently. This paper attempts to study the status of the social work institutions’development situation and the social enterprises’development model, to explore the possibility of social work agencies translate into social enterprise and to search the way of transformation. This thesis consists of five parts, including introduction, the current statues and difficult position of China’s social work agencies development, social enterprise’s model and advantages, social work agencies to explore and develop new models, and conclusion. The research methods of the paper include literature research, participant observation and interview. And the conclusion of the thesis is that social work organization needs transform into social enterprise, and the applicable mode is government support+enterprise management+public interest objectives.
