Xianfeng County is located in the west of Enshi prefecture in rural western Hubei province. It has Jurisdiction over10townships,288villages. The total population is more than364thousand people. The rural population accounts for the proportion of87.7%. The rural students of the junior high school students were80.5%. The rural junior high school accounted for76.9%. So the junior high school education in Xianfeng County is mainly rural junior high school education. The present situation of the P.E. education in rural junior high school in Xianfeng county is a typical and representative in the Enshi prefecture, even western Hubei province.Under the background of the profound implementation of Quality Education and the development of youngster’s physique health, with the guidance of "Health First" and "lifelong P.E. and happy P.E.", using the methods of the literature, field survey questionnaire, interview and mathematical analysis, this thesis investigate the status quo of the physical education development in junior high school in Xianfeng county which is a typical and representative in the Enshi prefecture. And it discusses the influence factors of the rural junior high school physical education reform in Xianfeng county. It has important data value to advance the favorable development and reform of the physical education of western Hubei province.The conclusions are as follows:Firstly, P.E. classes in rural junior middle schools in Xian Feng County are exam-oriented and monotonous, taking no notice of the characteristics of junior middle school students. As a result, students are not so satisfied.Secondly, teachers specialized in P.E. are sparse. There are few young P.E. teachers. Women P.E. teachers are also few. The academic background of P.E. teachers is not so good. P.E. teachers have fewer opportunities for skill training and further education compared with teachers of other subjects. The outcome of P.E. teachers is low.Thirdly, as a result of the exam-oriented education, P.E. class in school is not reasonable. Teaching content of P.E. class is monotonous. The evaluation system of P.E. achievement is far from perfect. Less attention is paid to P.E. class. Teaching and research activities on P.E. are few. There is a lack of space, equipment and financial input for P.E. Class.
