| Educational discipline was firstly brought up by Michel Foucault who believed that discipline is a kind of macro-power. The mechanisms of educational discipline were believed to be space division and control and prescriptive time and action.The means of educational discipline consists of hierarchical observation, normalizing judgment and examination. By the above mentioned mechanism and means, students are cultivated to be gentle and useful individuals. Educational discipline is a kind of flexible control with gentleness and details which takes place implicitly. However, it makes our education caught in the process of technicalization and scientificalization, resulting in the no freedom of students.In2001the Ministry of Education proposed a new round curriculum reform of basic education and put forward the new education idea. Among the new education idea,’people-oriented""evaluation makes development""less talk more learn" can be seen as responses to education discipline. In the process of curriculum reform, as the learning load is lightened and in-school time is shorted, the time of students’being controlled by school is cut; as the extracurricular practice is emerging, the regulation of students in school is reduced; as the diversification of assessment changing from centesimal system to hierarchical system even the application of portfolio, the impact of evaluation on students minimized. Appreciation education also began to rise, the normalizing judgment also leads to the commutation of punishment.Thus, whether the educational discipline will reduce in the context of the new reform of basic education curriculum? The research adopts the qualitative method to study the educational discipline in the process of the new reform of basic educational curriculum. Through observationsã€interviews and literature analysis, the author has collected a number of relevant documents of several elementary schools in Hubei province especially H primary school.Research suggests that the school followed a discipline before the reform of curriculum. For example, a closed campus is made to ensure the space to carry out the discipline, different activity areas of school are beneficial segmentations, seating arrangement can also arrange students, daily schedule will draw students’attention to the activities of the school, Schedule deals with the arrangement of activities. The class management system, Trail of Management System, the implementation of school and class regulations and examination and evaluation also follow the discipline means. Meanwhile, the educational discipline is implicit. Shrill ring is replaced by melodious music; the school bulletin board makes the students disciplined through praise; and the monitors are invisible but exist.To some extent, the educational discipline is expanded:the discipline time prolonged from intracurricular to extracurricular, the discipline location extend from intramural to extramural, the subjects expanded from teachers to parents.Based on the study, the author aims to seek a balance between discipline and freedom, thus free the students from the discipline. |
