Research On University Students’ Employment Trend In The Post-crisis Era

At present, the employment problem of university graduates has become a hot topic of our government, which also arise social attention. With the massification of higher education, there have also been difficult employment issues of university students. The financial crisis broke out in2008, which formed a significant impact on the global economy, and which made employment problem of university students become increasingly prominent. With the gradual relaxation of the financial crisis, economic development will enter a relatively stable period, namely the post crisis era. In the post crisis era, the world economy began a slow recovery, but the impact on the job market still exists, which is entering another important transition period. Suffering from the ravage of financial crisis, China’s economy is also deeply affected. On one hand, rapid economic growth will fall; on the other hand, the economy will gradually warm up after the financial crisis, into the post crisis era. There is no doubt that "turbulence" of China’s economy will have a significant impact on employment.Based on the objective reality that China’s economy is in the post-crisis era, taking university graduates as research object, this paper conducted in-depth discussion respectively from the aspects of university graduates’employment expectation, occupation intention and employment area selection, reflected or refracted the problems in employment. In order to reflect new features or trends of Chinese university graduates’employment before and after the crisis, based on the2008financial crisis as the node, the paper divided the employment situation of university students into two phases:2002-2008as the first phase, the pre-crisis stage;2009-so far for the second phase, the post-crisis era. Through data collection, this paper described and compared university graduates’employment on each of the two different phases.Combined the investigation method of the questionnaire with the method of interviews, this paper investigates the new trend in university graduates’employment expectation, occupation intention and employment area selection. And we come to the following findings:First, employment expectations:Salary expectation becomes more rational; graduates pay more attention to career development space, and pay more attention to promoting employment ability; Second, occupation intention:Employment and career planning awareness enhanced, intention to abroad and entrepreneurship reduced, employment more concentrated national affairs departments and business units, type of occupation more biased management and technical work; Third, employment areas:the second-tier cities become the main choice of employment, higher proportion of going to the western region, family factors on affecting the choice of employment area become larger, the awareness of regional economic development enhance.It is a complicated systematic project to solve the employment problem of university students, which needs the joint efforts of the government, enterprise, University and college students themselves and so on, to achieve good results. According to the new trend that college students show in the employment in post crisis era, this paper based on the principle to response to the crisis, to promote employment, from macro to micro, puts forward multi-dimensional, three-dimensional policy recommendations:First, the government:make employment policy, strengthen macro guidance. Accelerate structural adjustment, develop industry that is conducive to employment; Strengthen the support, encourage students to start their own businesses; Build information networks, realize information sharing of both supply and demand side; Improve the employment mechanism, ensure the rational flow of college students. Second, the enterprise:rationalize employment channels, build employment platform. Update the concept of employing, establish a scientific concept of employment; Strengthen social responsibility, take the responsibility to cultivate the talents; Enhance university-enterprise cooperation, shorten the adaptation period of employment. Third, colleges and universities:reform teaching mode, improve education system. Meet the market demand, cultivate talents needed in society; Adjust professional structure, deepen educational reform; Improve the teaching plan, strengthen professional guidance. Fourth, the students: change the concept of employment, enhance employability. Adjust the concept of employment, lower employment expectations; Consolidate expertise, enhance personal qualities; Master job skills, improve employability; Do a good job in career planning, set career goals.
