Analysis Of Secondary Vocational School Crisis In Recruiting Students

Secondary vocational education was born with the industrial revolution, then it improved and developed step by step. Also the secondary vocational education is the very important part of the whole education system. Secondary vocational education takes the responsibility of training laborers with spirit of innovation and practical ability, and elementary and intermediate level expertise talents. However, because of the influence of enrollment expansion of colleges, social opinion and personal sense, our secondary vocational education is faced with a huge crisis in recruiting new students in recent years. If things go on like this, it will impede the healthy progress of our secondary vocational education inevitably; even it will impede the development of our economy and society. The article takes Luoyang in Henan province as research object to analyze the problems in recruiting students of the secondary vocational education, and then we will analyze the reasons in order to propose appropriate countermeasures.The article consists of four parts:The first part mainly discusses the necessity of researching the crisis of secondary vocational education in Luoyang and the existing research achievements. Also we try to clarify three pairs of concepts which must be mentioned, such as profession and occupation, professional education and vocational education, higher vocational education and secondary vocational education, and so on. At last we simply expound the research thinking, methods and theoretical basis.The second part mainly selective analysis the expressions of the crisis in recruiting new students in Luoyang secondary vocational school. First are the decrease of new student’s enrollment and the decline of the school number. This phenomenon appears not only in Luoyang, but also in all Henan provinces, even in nationwide.The decrease in student number directly lead to the transition and consolidation of the school, so we can see that the number of secondary vocational school is also decreasing. Secondly, the quality of the new students in secondary vocational school is not high, the grade of their overall test are all below secondary level. Thirdly, the market of recruiting is very disorder; many dishonest methods are filled in the process. Also the government not successfully plays the role of superintendent. The third part mainly analysis the reasons which lead to the existing situation, mainly in four parts: obtain employment; training; policy; concept.Aiming at the reasons above, the fourth part mainly explains the countermeasure in order to remit of the crisis of secondary vocational education in Luoyang at present.
