The new curriculum reform has been launched nationwide. The new concept and methodhave been gradually come in to our classroom and becoming mature. The modular teachinghas reflected in various subjects. The high school chemistry course is divided into eightmodules. They are “Compulsory One”,“Compulsory Tow”,“Chemistry and life”,“Chemistry and technology”,“Material structure and properties”,“The reaction principle ofchemistry”,“Organic chemistry basis” and “The experiment of chemistry”.“CompulsoryOne” and “Compulsory Tow” are compulsory modules.“Chemistry and life”,“Chemistry andtechnology”,“Material structure and properties”,“The reaction principle of chemistry”,“Organic chemistry basis” and “The experiment of chemistry” are elective modules. Eachelective module has a special theme. People have made a lot of research about thecompulsory modules. But we still don’t know the students’ learning situation about theelective modules. It’s necessary to Investigate and analyze what puzzled teachers in theteaching process. This article makes an investigation mainly about the elective module named“organic chemistry basis”.At first, the paper analyzes the teaching material. This paper takes the 《Organicchemistry basis》 which is published by People’s Education Press as an example to analyzethe materials and obtain the data. Secondly, based on the unique characteristics of the organicchemistry knowledge, we research the attentions on where the teachers need to pay on class.We also talk about the methods and strategies what are different from other chemicalknowledge. At the same time, analyze the difficulties when the students learn the organicchemistry course. We discuss good approaches to learn the organic chemistry according to thenature of the reactions and the basic law of the organic matter.Besides, the third chapter of the Compulsory Tow is about the organic compounds. Inthe same time, the fifth elective module is “Organic chemistry basis”. Some teachers arepuzzled by such an arrangement. Some of them think that the compulsory part of the organicknowledge is redundant and the others are confusing with the depth and views of the teachingfor the tow parts. Based on the goal of the new curriculum standard about the tow parts, we research the differences and relations between them. In the same time, we discuss thelearning perspective and method about the organic chemistry between the compulsorymodule and the elective module.The article divides the research direction into two aspects. One of them is aquestionnaire survey for students in learning the book 《Organic chemistry basis》. Theother one is an interview survey for teachers in teaching the《Organic chemistry basis》.The survey about the learning situation takes the students of Honshu No.1high school ofcity as the research object. The direction of the investigation is divided into six aspects. Theyare learning plans, learning consciousness, learning style, self-monitoring, evaluationmethods and the difficulties and confusions in the process of learning.According to the survey, most of the students make study plan for their selves and finishthe exam preparation as well as the interview before class and the review after class. Theirlearning consciousness is very strong. Many students have good learning style. But it remainsto be perfect in terms of self-monitoring. They need a more comprehensive evaluation. Theyneed to pay more attention to organic chemistry experiment. Schools and teachers shouldexercise the students’ practical ability. From the characteristics of the organic chemistryknowledge, this article discusses and put forwards a series of method that according to thecurriculum requirements in order to solve the problems of students in their learning process.Through the interview about part of the teachers of Honshu No.1high school, we finishthe investigation about the teaching situation for the 《Organic chemistry basis》. Through theinterview, we know the teachers’ difficulties and confusions and put forward some effectivesuggestions for them. We also know the teachers’ views on the arrangement of the teachingmaterial and the teaching ideas which is advocated by the new curriculum standard.Through the analysis of the results of the students and the teachers, this paper putsforward some feasible suggestions mainly about the teaching material, students’ learning plan,learning consciousness, learning methods and so on. In my appointment, it needs the jointefforts of schools, teachers and students to deepen the reform of the course, change theconcept of traditional teaching and format the teaching mode that teacher-directed and thestudents as the owner of the classroom. In this way can we improve the students’ scientific literacy what is the core goal of the new curriculum reform.
