2012was a turning point in the development of social work in China as it set off a nationwide wave of fervor of the establishment of social work agencies. This study looks into the issue of the "local social work professional development" behind this trend. This study focuses on four social work agencies in province G, with a deep description of the transformation of these agencies. I will identify five problems that they are faced with since the restructuring, that the trend of social work agencies’ flourishing is a result of the competition for survival resources and hence the professional development. However, the professional development of social work is still hopeful. The hope is that in binding the social work professional standards and survival resources together and through the competition among different agencies, the professional level of social work as a whole will be enhanced. |
