Research BackgroundSocial practice is an important way for university students to develop the overall quality and plays an important role in strengthening and improving the ideological and political education of college students. The document on the3rd Youth Federation issued in2005, that "further strengthen and improve the social practice of opinions" has setting off a wave of student social practice activities at universities across the country.Clinical medicine is a discipline with very strong practicality. For clinical medical students, productive social practice is particularly important. As a group of the special professionals, consummate leech craft and noble morality are in great request. Cultivating ideological morals and elevating medical skill are inseparable from practice, therefore social practice is an important part for medical students to enhance their overall quality as the goal. Social practice is not only an effective way for medical students to develop occupational spirit, but also an overall examination of the practical effect of professional spirit.The clinical medicine has its own professional features which differ from those of other professional disciplines, such as:long system model, staged pedagogy, Medical ethics education and so on and so forth, which determines the modes of social practice for medical students is different from other majors in particularity. However, content of the medical students’social practice listed in a systematic way is still blank in the domestic and international research fields, and it is very meaningful to explore.Research Purpose and SignificanceThe purpose of this study is to identify existing problems through making an investigation of the current status of social practice among the medical students on the basis of existing theoretical research achievements at home and abroad. This paper aims to explore the new models of social practice according to the characteristics of clinical medicine and to build a "specialization prominent and stage clear" social practice model for the medical students of different menus at different stages of schooling.Research ProcessBased on Y School and S University, this study entails the following parts:First, stratified sampling was applied to select the respondent of this research by means of interviewing, whereby students’attitudes towards current model of hands-on activities were collected, and the problems lying within analyzed. Second, current situation and development trend of hands-on activities were identified through documents, based on which related problems were discovered. The research plan of this study was then designed accordingly. Third, the training model for students of Clinical Medicine was analyzed to summarize the learning characteristics of students of different majors, program durations and learning phases. The menu of hands-on activities was designed in accordance with the requirement in form and content from the students in different learning phases. Afterwards, case study method was applied to conduct trial implementation of the menu, the results analyzed and corresponding modifications provided.Research Results(1) The curriculum settings of students of Clinic Medicine, divided into three types, namely5-year,7-year and8-year, were systematically analyzed. Special attention was paid to highlighting the multi-stage feature of the curriculums including "basic theories-clinical basics-clinical theories-clinical practices."(2) Different hands-on activities were designed to meet the varied demands of students in different learning phases, whether being5-year or7-year curriculum.(3) Special hands-on activities were provided for students with a8-year curriculum.(4)The outcome of the one-year trial implementation was collected and analyzed. Suggestions were given to address related problems lying within.
