The paper mainly focused on the relations between college students’ anxiety level, academic delay of gratification and academic delay. The relatively loose management mode and the relative freedom of study mode in college life allows college students getting out of high school with high pressure management mode to appear an inadaptability. Academic delay is one of the important performances. Academic delay refers to a behavior of students’ postponing a task without any reasonable cause which needs to be done on time under learning situations. Academic delay leads to a series of negative consequences, not only poor academic performance but also accompanied by a series of negative emotional experience, such as regret, fear, tension, insomnia, which seriously influence physical and mental health of college students, college students’ academic procrastination has been an important field of college students’ mental health study. After reviewing predecessors’ research, the author found out the previous studies of academic delay mainly focused on discussing the factors influencing the academic delay, few academic delay researches also concerning the individual’s physical and mental state and ability. Therefore, this article try to from two aspects, individual’s physical and mental state and the ability, on understanding of the existing situation of academic procrastination from college students, introducing two factors of anxiety and academic delay of gratification, further discussing the relations between academic delay, academic delay of gratification and anxiety.A questionnaire survey was conducted in this paper, a present survey of 453 testees (including 321 undergraduate and 132 postgraduate students) were conducted to study the relations between the three. Through research, we draw the following conclusions:(1) the anxiety level of college students is significantly higher than the national norm, there is no significant difference in a common demographic variables of gender, professional, family, home place, whether the one-child, and significant difference appears in learning phase, undergraduate higher than graduate students. (2) college students’ academic delay gratification capacity has significant differences in gender, while the differences were not significant in other demographic variable learning phase, professional, family, homeplace, whether the one-child(3) the college students’ academic procrastination has significant differences in gender, while the differences were not significant in learning phase, professional, homeplace, whether the one-child (4) there is a significant positive correlation between college students’ anxiety level and academic delay, and the anxiety of college students can significantly predict academic delay. (5)there is a negative correlation between college students’ academic delayed gratification and academic delay is significantly, and college students’academic delayed was negative predicted by academic delayed gratification.
