Since2008, the international economic crisis has had a significant impact on China’smanufacturing industry. Manufacturing industry in China’s eastern coastal areas faces theproblem of industrial transferring and upgrading. At the same time, there are two trends:first, China’s "going out" pace continues to accelerate, more and more manufacturingenterprises invest in foreign countries; second, the country intensifies the development ofthe central and western regions to balance the overall development, and vigorouslypromotes the urbanization construction progress.Based on this background, this paper is committed to study China’s manufacturingdistribution adjustment of outward and inward transfer paths. These two paths are: theoutward transfer path means Chinese manufacturing multinational companies mainlythrough foreign direct investment transfer or build factories to a country or a regionwhere has a comparative advantage of policies, resources and huge markets; the inwardtransfer path means the manufacturing companies in China’s eastern coastal areas movetheir factories to the relatively more suitable places such as the central and westernregions of China, to take advantage of lower-cost resources, labor, potential market, preferential policies and other advantages of these regions, to form China’s internalGoose model and to promote domestic industrial restructuring and upgrading. This paper consists of five chapters. The first chapter states background, methods andtheoretical basis of the study; the second chapter describes the manufacturing sectordefinition, classifications, the status quo and the necessity of transferring; the thirdchapter analyzes the theory and present situation of the manufacturing outward andinward transfer paths; the fourth chapter uses comparative studies against Japan to verifythe outward path, and empirical analysis of manufacturing inward transferring; the finalchapter summarizes the two paths.
